Pierre Bach (1906-1971)- French School Mid 20th Century Oil, Collines Vallonnées

A wonderful mid-century oil by French painter Pierre Bach (1906-1971). The scene depicts a serene pastoral landscape with gentle rolling hills and a softly rendered skyline. Applied with a palette knife, Bach adopts a loose, gestural style in earth tones to carefully convey the scene’s tranquil, yet ever-changing atmosphere.

Gustave Courbet seems to have stayed there since 1841 but more certainly in 1849, and then until 1861. At the beginning of the 1850s Antoine-Louis Barye frequented Barbizon and ended up settling there, he rubbed shoulders with painters and created numerous oils and watercolors.

Signed French School Landscape Oil Painting, Canvas, 75 Cm

Large Painting, Allée Cavalière circa 1880. Large oil on canvas representing a bridle path, 19th century. This composition represents a long path lined with trees forming a plant canopy above the path. The central perspective leads the eye towards a luminous opening at the back of the scene, creating an impression of depth and serenity. The palette is dominated by deep greens and warm browns, enlivened by touches of light filtering through the foliage. The free treatment of pictorial material and the search for atmospheric effects evoke landscape painting from the end of the 19th century, sensitive to variations in light and natural atmospheres. A signature is at the bottom right Note the restorations.
