Texas vintage bluebonnet painting signed E. Bushell possibly by Ruth Dunn d.1994
Oil on canvas painting of a classic Texas landscape, filled with bluebonnets, oaks, yucca, cactus, windmill and outbuilding, signed at lower right “E. Bushell”. Online research suggests that this may in fact be a pen name used by artist Ruth Dunn of San Antonio (1910-1994). Other information online suggests there was a “Messer-Bushell Studio” in Tyler, Texas. SO there is something of a mystery here. The 20″ by 16″ painting (26″ by 22″ framed) likely dates to the 1980’s or 1970’s. Condition is excellent. Sure to please the collector of bluebonnet paintings and Texas art. Style reminds a bit of the works of Dalhart Windberg.
