January 1864 in Segeberg and died on 11. February 1954 ibid. He was a German painter and art professor. Storch came from a merchant family in Bad Segeberg and moved to Kiel at the age of 19. There, his artistic talent was discovered and encouraged by painter Harro Magnussen, who recommended him to the Art Academy in Berlin. During his studies in Berlin, Storch earned his living as an illustrator for magazines and books and as a teacher at the “Akademie Fehr” founded by Conrad Fehr. He worked for the magazines “Daheim”, “Vom Fels zum Meer” and “Leipziger Illustrirte Zeitung”, among others, and illustrated works by Goethe, Kleist, Adelbert von Chamisso and Eichendorff. In 1902, Storch was appointed professor at the Königsberg Academy of Arts and remained there until 1928. During the First World War, he designed trading cards for Stollwerck scrapbooks, including the series “The Liberation of East Prussia by Hindenburg” for Stollwerck scrapbook No. 16 from 1916. During the Nazi era, Storch remained a valued painter, but rarely exhibited his work and, unlike his son of the same name, with whom he was often confused, was not represented in Munich. In January 1944, Storch was awarded the Goethe Medal for Art and Science, although the ministerial proposal acknowledged that he had achieved a considerable artistic level, but not the level required for the award during the war, and he was not a member of the NSDAP. In 1944, Storch was on the list of those who had been blessed by God, published by the Reich Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. After the bombing of Königsberg, Storch returned to Bad Segeberg as a refugee in October 1944. In 1954 he received the Federal Cross of Merit and died shortly afterwards in Bad Segeberg. On the occasion of his 140th In 2004, to mark the 50th birthday, the city of Bad Segeberg set up a permanent exhibition in the historic town hall, in which 29 works of art and some illustrations have been on display since 2008.      return:All items can be returned within 14 days without giving any reason.
