Gianni Mantovani was born in 1950 in Concordia (MO), where he currently lives. After completing his artistic studies in Modena and Bologna, he began teaching at the Liceo Artistico in Bologna at the age of 23. In 1991 he won the national competition and became professor of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. In the 1990s, Mantovani developed a deep interest in tribal art, particularly African art. His landscapes, flowers and nature scenes are rendered in primary and essential forms, drawing on memories and a dreamlike vision. Mantovani’s works have been exhibited in public and private spaces throughout Europe. In his art, he is increasingly concerned with environmental issues, which makes his urgent.
