A lovely fantasia on the progression of a night where I am assuming we are seeing the moon at three different stages in a time lapse. Has a strong feeling of the Douanier Rousseau for me, as if we have fallen into his lovely feral flowers. I don’t see a signature unless it is hidden by the frame. Lovely color gradients with night blues. Frame measures approximately 21.5 in by 17.5 in.

French impressionist Paris street scene, impressive size at 36″ by 24″ (44″ by 31″ framed), signed lower right “Louis Dancourt”. This work, in the style of the well-known Edouard Cortes, likely dates to the 1960’s or 1970’s. It is in excellent condition with exception of a missing paint area about 1″ across (see photos). I am not familiar with the artist but I suspect it may well be a pen name. A great decorative work for the devoted Francophile.
