Liu Xiaodong’s painting are often described as “neorealism” or “cynical realism”. His paintings feature loose brushwork and bold colors. This painting is an oil on canvas and depicts a beautiful woman holding her dog. It is skillfully done and overall displays very nicely. The painting is signed and dated on the back in Chinese “Liu Xiaodong 1994”. It is housed in a beautiful frame and the painting is protected under glass. The sitter is very pretty and the dog quite cute, the background black coloring faded from light to dark with a mottled look. Overall a great piece of Asian artwork.
