John Loughlin Large 1974 WC “Winter Sea” Listed Rhode Island with Museum Label

Outstanding large watercolor, “Winter Sea,” by listed Rhode Island artist John Leo Loughlin (1931-2004). Loughlin studied at the Worcester Art Museum School and Clark University. He worked as an illustrator for National Geographic Magazine and the Naval War College before becoming a full-time painter in the late 1960s. Loughlin was an award-winning and actively exhibiting member of the American Watercolor Society, the Providence Art Club, the Rockport Art Association, the Providence Watercolor Club, Allied Artists, Academic Artists, the North Shore Art Association, and others. Loughlin’s work is in numerous collections including the Decordova Museum, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the United States War College, and many others. This watercolor was in the collection of the De Cordova Museum in Massachusetts and bears a museum label with date and title of the painting. It measures 21.25″ x 29.5″ (sight size), and is in very good condition. Framed as shown (frame has a few nicks). Please see my other auctions for more fine paintings and prints.
