Jean Abadie was a French painter of rural life and pastoral landscapes. His palette often features warm yellows and orange crepuscular rays, intersecting and interrupting his compositions. Born in Tarbes, in the Midi-Pyrénées region of southwestern France in 1921, he spent his early life in the military., Abadie took up painting in the late 1940s partly as a Humanist response to his service, and would continue on to produce works until his death in 2010.
