MALFROY Charles 1862-1918 Signed Oil Painting “Plage de la Rive aux Martigues”

Beautiful luminous work by the painter Charles Malfroy which represents an animated view of Rive aux Martigues beach. Workers can be observed on beach performing re-meshing of fishing nets. The painter used a palette of warm colors which perfectly captures the light and colors of a summer day in Provence. We can compare our work to a composition by the painter Julien Gagliardini who also immortalized at the same period this corner of the Quai aux Martigues where the mussels are sorted and also to another work by the painter Charles Malfroy currently on sale in the gallery. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes français in 1891 and 1894. His shipments from Mediterranean landscapes with cheerful tones to Regional exhibitions are awarded prizes by the jury and highly appreciated by collector.
