Not dated and circa 1950s; all are laid-down on to paper backers. Light wear; one of the wash pieces with a thin line-scrape; the paper backers with wear and wrinkling in margins, creasing, couple short tears. The artworks are in very good condition. Victoria Harbor Hong Kong Impressionist Art Painting on Canvas Contemporary P.K. Chan 24″ Condition:This is a gorgeous painting of Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong. It is painted on an unstretched canvas and is signed by P.K. Chan. It is a nighttime cityscape of the harbor with junk boats in the foreground and the city across the canvas. It is in vibrant primary colors of blue, red, and yellow. It has a lot of texture and is done in an impressionist manner. It is a contemporary piece of artwork that captures this Chinese country in its heyday. I believe it is an oil painting but it may be an acrylic painting. The art measures 20.5″ tall x 24.5″ wide. The canvas measures 23″ tall x 26.5″ wide. It weighs 6 oz. It is in good condition. It has been rolled with a piece of plastic over the painting. The plastic seems to have left some impressions in the paint but it adds to the texture in some ways. There may be minor damage but nothing overt that I can see. It will be mailed rolled in a tube. ORIGINAL HAND-PAINTED VAJRASATTVA TIBETAN THANGKA PAINTING WITH SILK BROCADE

This is a unique, hand-painted Tibetan thangka depicting Bodhisattva Vajrasattva, elegantly mounted with silk. Vajrasattva is an essential figure in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, often called the Diamond Being or Thunderbolt Being. He is mentioned in the Mahavairocana Sutra and the Vajrasekhara Sutra. In the Mahavairocana Sutra, Vajrasattva guides those eager to learn from Vairocana Buddha, initiating a philosophical dialogue where the Buddha uses a mandala to enhance understanding. Vajrasattva also challenges the need for rituals and physical objects to grasp more profound truths, to which Vairocana responds by explaining that these elements serve as practical tools for enlightenment. In Newar Buddhism, Vajrasattva is held in high esteem and symbolizes the ideal guru, often invoked in rituals. In Shingon Buddhism, he is revered as the second patriarch. Kukai’s writings suggest that Vajrasattva transmitted esoteric wisdom from Vairocana Buddha to Nagarjuna. In Tibetan Buddhism, the root tantra associated with Vajrasattva is Dorje Gyan or Vajra Ornament. Practices centered around Vajrasattva are vital for eliminating obscurations, advancing in Vajrayana practices, and rectifying broken vows after initiation. Engaging in Vajrasattva practices is believed to cleanse karma, promote peace, and foster enlightened actions.
