VINTAGE ABORIGINAL PORTRAIT OIL PAINTING ON BLACK VELVET SIGNED EMC AUSTRALIANA
Presenting a delightful vintage Aboriginal portrait painting on black velvet masterfully executed and signed by EMcM circa 1960s. This stunning painting depicts a youthful Aboriginal woman executed in a charming romanticised manner which perfect captures the subjects beauty. A stunning play of shadow and light is achieved with this unique style of painting. The bold brushstrokes and vibrant oil colours literally leap from the rich black velvet background. This piece is indicative of the 1960s era in which it was created, making this a curious example of vintage Australiana documenting the way in which First Nations people have been represented in recent history.
