This effect was created by the painter Pancaldi and occurs in many of his works, especially in the maturity phase. Medium and painting surface: watercolor on paper painted with “Ice technique” that was invented by Pancaldi to obtain the ice effect in some part of the painting surface, this technique consists of literally freezing the fresh wet painting and subsequently work on it again. He used this technique starting from the early ’60’s and kept working on it for all his life until the extraordinary results of the 80’s and 90.
