Pair of Vintage Modern Watercolors circa 1950 Attributed to Robert J Majors (CA)

Offered here is a pair of watercolors attributed to California artist Robert J Majors, circa 1930s. The cityscape measures 10 x 14 inches and is unmatted and unframed. The beach scene with figure is small, measuring 4 1/8 x 5 1/4 inches. This work has old matting and is unframed. The cityscape is signed lower right, gifted lower left, and dated 1950. The smaller one I believe, is earlier, possibly late 1930s, and may be a depiction of the War Memorial at Waikiki, in Hawaii, where he was living in the late ’30s and again post WW2. It is signed lower right “Majors”. This work shows the influence of Phil Dike, one of his many teachers. Paintings are in good condition. —————————– Robert J Majors (1913-1960).
