Victorian Lady Oil Painting Print on Canvas circa 1860’s

Based on the sitter’s hair style and the mourning or hair jewelry brooch and 2nd locket on chain, this work dates to circa 1860. The canvas appears to have been relined on the backside and there is a repair to the upper right corner.

The painting was painted on canvas relined on canvas from the Color Merchant Deforge Carpentier in PARIS between 1856 and 1863. Camille COROT painted many of his works on canvases from the Color Merchant Deforge Carpentier in Paris The painting that we are offering for sale is an authentic painting from the mid-19th century which is very comparable to the works of Camille Corot who repeatedly painted the rocks in the Fontainebleau forest. The painting does not appear to be signed but Camille Corot did not sign all of his works. Additional research would make it possible to attribute this work to Corot.
