The portrait is of the 5th child of George Clinton, Governor of New York, and Vice President of the United States. Martha Washington Clinton, 1783-1795. Signed with his label on back and titled. Fine condition.
1787 PIERRE DUFLOS HAND-ILLUMINATED ENGRAVING w GOLD FEMME ALBANOISE FAUVEL 1782
As you can see from the notations beneath the image, this was published by Pierre Duflos in Paris (in 1787) based upon an image drawn on the scene by Fauvel in 1782. As you can see, the edges of the paper do show a bit of wear, but I’m assuming you will want to matte around the engraving itself anyway.
