This story comes from the legends about the life of Saint Benedict, who is considered the founder of the Benedictine Order. According to legend, Placidus was a young monk who was admitted to the monastery by Benedict as a child. One day, while fetching water, Placidus fell into a lake or river and threatened to drown. Realizing by divine inspiration that Placidus was in danger, Benedict, who was in the monastery, sent Maurus, another monk, to save him. Maurus rushed to the water, and miraculously he was able to walk across the water and rescue Placidus.
