He was painting as early as 1939. . . but seems to have done most of his exhibiting between 1957 and 1962. At the Scottsdale show in the latter year he received a second award for . . . a painting executed in tempera.” Tanner, 1973The famous Santa Fe architect, John Gaw Meem, designed a building in downtown Albuquerque for Maurice Maisel’s new trading post and asked Olive Rush to paint murals at the entrance. She suggested she select Indian artists to paint them. All selected were from The Studio of the Santa Fe Indian School. They were Awa Tsireh; Popovi Da and Pop Chalee painted northern Pueblo subjects; Ben Quintana, Ku-Pe-Ru, and Joe Herrera did Keres motifs; Wilson Dewey and Ignatius Palmer added some of the Apache patterns; and Ha-So De and Harrison Begay contributed Navajo ones. Palmer painted a Gan Dancer. The murals still exist on the building.“Ignatius Palmer shows his paintings mainly in the tribal arts center near his home in the Mescalero Apache area. Large and impressive figures of Gan Dancers and other ceremonial personages appear in flat, outlined constructions in most of these. Palmer is one of the few Apache artists who have consistently combined painting with duties and distractions of reservation life.” Dunn, 1968Ignatius Palmer (1922 – 1985) served in the U. S. More Art Auctions About Me My Blog Soldier Tributes Title Scottsdale, AZ Mountain View Size 11″ X 14″ x 1/8″ Medium Oil on linenFramedYes, as shown in the brown wood frame Painted from life, in Scottsdale, AZ, this impressionistic landscape captures the beauty and charm of the Arizona desert. When you purchase or win the auction for this painting you will also receive a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by the artist. Original art is a great investment but don’t buy my work for that reason- buy it because you love it and you want your house to look classy. My house is so full of paintings it looks like a museum and while I’m not saying the look is for everyone it does work for me. 🙂 This is a quality oil painting painted with traditional methods. It is an original oil painting and is sure to increase in value as my paintings become more difficult to acquire. Frequently Asked Questions When is payment due/expected? Payment is due on the 3rd day after the auction ends. If you are bidding on another item please contact me (nora at dancinglightstudio (dot) com) and I will be happy to extend the payment deadline. When will my item ship? I ship twice a week. Items that are paid for by Monday at 4:00 pm will be shipped Tuesday. Items paid for by Wednesday at 4:00 pm ship on Thursday. Very rarely a painting will sell before the paint has had enough time to dry thoroughly. This can happen if the paint is exceptionally thick or if I place a BUY IT NOW price on an auction and it sells immediately. In this instance I will communicate this to you, the buyer, and ship your painting as soon as it is safe to do so. Sometimes I ship on Saturdays but if your payment is received on Saturday or Sunday, your package will usually ship on Tuesday. Has my item been shipped? If you have paid via Paypal, you will receive an automatic email from our Paypal notifying you of the shipment and providing you with a tracking number. Please note that USPS does not provide in-line tracking and the confirmation number is only valid for the purpose of confirming time and delivery. UPS will provide more detailed shipping information. When will I receive my package? Most packages are shipped Priority Mail or United Parcel Service Ground. Very large and heavy packages are shipped Federal Express ground. USPS estimates delivery time as 2-3 days from shipment date and UPS guarantees six day delivery. Sometimes an item will take longer to ship. An oil painting that sells immediately after I list it may not be dry enough to ship and could require an additional 7-10 days time to cure. Please allow additional time for Giclee prints and canvases as they require an additional seven days to receive from the printer. Do you ship to APO/FPO, Guam or Puerto Rico Addresses? As long as you have a confirmed and Verified Paypal address the item will be mailed to this address. I cannot accept any other form of payment for these shipments. I live near you / I will be traveling in your area, can I pick up my item in person? Yes. Please email me your phone number and I will make arrangements for the pick-up. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I answer all mail within 24 hours.
